CENN continues to actively support environmental education in school. The organization, with the financial support of the Austrian Development Cooperation, held a working meeting and training on environmental education in cooperation with the Environmental Information and Education Center, and the National Center for Teacher Professional Development.
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss practical methods and models of non-formal environmental education. Participants also discussed ways to support general education reform and facilitate the development of specific initiatives integrating environmental initiatives into it.
Pavle Tvaliashvili, the founder of the Georgian Association of Educational Initiatives “Sika” and coordinator of international experts in Georgia, moderated the meeting. Leadership experts attended the meeting who, in line with the third task of general education reform, are promoting and strengthening school culture in the twenty-four regional centres.
The three-day workshop occurred within the framework of the “Sustainable Forest Management for Rural Development” project, with financial support provided by the Austrian Development Cooperation.
The “Sustainable Forest Management for Rural Development” project has been implemented by CENN with the financial support of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) since 2018. The project aims to create an environment conducive to the diversification of local sources of income and reduce environmental risks through effective forestry development, sustainable energy solutions, natural disaster reduction, education, awareness raising, employment opportunities for women, and advocacy.
