Let’s End Plastic Pollution Together

#Beatplasticpollution #keepGoergiabeautiful

World Environment Day is celebrated worldwide on June 5. This year, countries of the world unite against Earth’s plastic waste pollution. According to current data, there will be more waste than fish in the oceans by 2050. In order to put a stop to this harsh reality, each and every person must be engaged in the fight against plastic! For example, say NO to disposable water bottles and cutlery, plastic bags, straws, single-use containers, plastic packaging, etc. Instead, say YES to sustainable alternatives such as reusable water bottles and Tupperware, canvas bags, and metal straws! It is increasingly evident that disposable items have a disastrous impact on the world and it will only get worse if nothing is changed.

On this day, World Environment Day, the National Garden of Georgia together with the USAID-funded WMTR II program implemented by CENN, is inviting you to attend the event, Say No to Plastic!

#BeatPlasticPollution

Things you can do at the event:

– Bring your own plastic PET bottles (clean and empty!) and dispose of them into designated plastic waste bins at the botanical garden. The bottles collected during the event will be delivered to recycling companies to be recycled
– Find out more about waste management opportunities in Tbilisi
– Participate in a quiz and other fun games (prizes included!)
– Attend a workshop by Mathilde Murat : How to Reuse Plastic Waste

Nowadays, plastic waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges on Earth. To overcome it, each of us needs to comprehend the essence of the problem and make a real effort to reduce waste in our daily lives. Furthermore, it is necessary to implement multifaceted measures worldwide, such as raising awareness about pollution and its environmental impact by encouraging recycling and significantly reducing plastic production and consumption.
