CENN, Within the Frames of the EU-supported Georgia Climate Program (GEO-CAP) Organized the Awarding Ceremony of the Competition #Act4Climate

May 19, 2022. Tbilisi, Georgia. To strengthen the role of civil society and society in general, in the action against climate change, CENN, within the framework of the Georgian Climate Program (GEO-CAP), together with partner business companies – Procredit Bank, Toyota Caucasus, and, Adjara Group, organized an awarding ceremony of the competition Act4Climate and climate change thematic posters exhibition. 

The aim of the event was to create an informal environment, activate the issue of climate change and establish links between representatives of different sectors.

Journalists and bloggers, due to the capacity they have in inspiring and influencing all citizens have a key role to play in this process. We are therefore very happy today to reward talented journalists and bloggers particularly active in the fight against Climate change.” – Alexandre Darras, Attaché, Connectivity, Energy, Environment & Climate Change Team Leader, Delegation of the European Union to Georgia.

From CENN 3 winners were revealed as a result of the competition. Anano Mchedlishvili, a journalist of on.ge, became the first place winner, who was awarded a 1,500 GEL voucher; Blogger Baia Dzagnidze took second place and was awarded a 1,200 GEL Zummer voucher; the third place was taken by Imedi TV journalist Marika Bakuradze, who was awarded a Zummer voucher in the amount of 1,200 GEL.

The competition partners Procredit Bank, Toyota Caucasus, and, Adjara Group awarded their chosen candidates. ProCredit Bank revealed 3 selected creative works that showcases responsible business values and successful practices in an environmental context; Toyota Caucasus revealed 1 selected creative work that reflects a strategic and long-term vision; Adjara Group revealed 1 selected creative work that demonstrates the importance of introducing eco-friendly practices in the business sector.

The event was attended by the EU Delegation to Georgia, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, the Center for Environmental Information and Education, Jury members, Toyota Caucasus, Pro Credit Bank, Adjara Group, contest participants, media representatives.

The event was held under the European Union-supported Georgia Climate Action Program (GEO-CAP) that is implemented by CENN together with the Kakheti Regional Development Fund (KRDF), the Chiatura Union (ACU), the Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Agrotourism Development Association (RLS-ADA), and the Young Pedagogue’s Union (YPU). The target municipalities of the project are Gurjaani, Sagarejo, Akhmeta, Zestaponi, Tkibuli, Chiatura, Lanchkhuti, Ozurgeti, Oni, and Ambrolauri.
