Say NO to Plastic

#BeatPlasticPollution #KeepGeorgiaBeautiful

World Environment Day is celebrated worldwide every year on June 5. This year, countries of the world united against Earth’s plastic waste pollution. According to current data, there will be more waste than fish in the oceans by 2050. In order to put a stop to this harsh reality, each and every person must be engaged in the fight against plastic!

This year, more than 3,000 events were registered worldwide to celebrate World Environment Day. People from the streets of New Delhi to the streets of New York City joined arms against plastic pollution.

Georgia has also joined the world campaign with the event – Say No to Plastic waste! #BeatPlasticPollution that took place on June 5. CENN’s WMTR II program, supported by USAID, organized the event together with the National Botanical Garden of Georgia.

On this day, the event’s attendees gained knowledge about modern waste management methods, took part in recycling quizzes, played entertaining games focused on plastic waste, created art from recycled materials in an upcycling workshop, and brought their own plastic PET bottles to be recycled by a private company.

Join the world campaign, #BeatPlasticPollution, by making sustainable lifestyle changes. For example, say NO to disposable water bottles and cutlery, plastic bags, straws, single-use containers, plastic packaging, etc. Instead, say YES to sustainable alternatives such as reusable water bottles and Tupperware, canvas bags, and metal straws! It is increasingly evident that disposable items have a disastrous impact on the world and it will only get worse if nothing is changed.

If you want to get involved in more activities in the fight against littering, please consider becoming a devoted ambassador of WMTR II’s campaign, Keep Georgia Beautiful.
