Water for the Poor

The project “Water for the Poor”, with the focus on the WASH, promotes the right to health and improvement of living standards in vulnerable multi-ethnic communities in Georgia.

In vulnerable communities the management of water, sanitation and hygiene is often poorly regulated and outdated. Financial allocations by the state are limited or inadequate. Vulnerable groups lack the capacity to advocate for their right to health and adequate living conditions.

Therefore, the project plans to support the following:

-Protect health and social rights of vulnerable groups;

-Improve well-being of the women and youth in vulnerable multi-ethnic rural communities;

-Introduce Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) standards.

By implementing the following activities

-Report on human rights violations and recommendations for target communities;

-Development of baseline technical assessment report of WASH condition in target communities;

-File applications and petitions on human rights violations to relevant local and regional state and non-state institutions;

-Community-led advocacy campaigns, initiatives and discussions;

-Media advocacy campaign in target municipalities

-Implement projects to address water conflicts and inequalities in vulnerable communities.

The project, “Water for the Poor,” is implemented by CENN and financially supported by the European Union.
